K&E 4058 Mannheim Slide Rules

1749-1 --- (1897-1899)

• 1749-1 - 10" slide rule with metal framed celluloid cursor. Scales printed on paper on a boxwood frame.

4058 --- (1915-1922)

Name on rule is "Student's Slide Rule". The boxes for these rules are made of simple cardboard with printing directly on them.

• 4058 --- 10" slide rule with celluloid cursor in metal frame. The scales are printed on paper on a mahogany frame.
• 4058 --- 10" slide rule with celluloid cursor. Scales printed on Boxwood with original box.
• 4058 --- 10" slide rule with celluloid cursor. Scales printed on Boxwood with original box.

4058 --- (1915-1922)

Name on rule is "Beginner's Slide Rule". The boxes for these rules are made of simple cardboard with printing directly on them.

4058 --- (1924? Probably a transition variant)

Name on rule is "Student's Slide Rule". This rule has the cursor and case of the later 4058C.

4058C --- (1925-1941)

Name on rule is "Beginner's Slide Rule".

The 3 rules below are the same except there are variations in their construction.

• 4058C --- 10" slide rule with all glass cursor with wood blocks. Scales printed on Boxwood.
• 4058C --- 10" slide rule with all glass cursor with wood blocks. Scales printed on Boxwood.
• 4058C --- 10" slide rule with all glass cursor with wood blocks. Scales printed on Boxwood.

4058D --- (1942)

The rule below was shown only in the 1942 catalog.

• 4058D --- 10" slide rule with celluloid cursor. Scales printed on a white coating on a boxwood frame.

4058W --- (1930-1934)

• 4058W --- 10" slide rule with all glass cursor. Scales are printed on a white painted surface of a boxwood frame.

4058W --- (1936-1943)

• 4059 --- 8" version of the 4058 without trig scales and celluloid cursor. This version was only shown in the 1939 and 1941 catalogs.

8858 --- WWII not in catalogs

	= S L T = --- (L scale increases to the right)

• 8858 --- 10" slide rule with scales are printed on a white painted surface of a boxwood frame. This was a special issue as a "loaner" during WWII.

4158 --- (1960?) Not in catalogs. Appears to be early K-12 Prep rule

	K A = B S CI T C = D L   --- (L scale increases to the right)

• 4158 ------ 10" all plastic slide rule with plastic cursor. All scales are on the front side of the rule.

K12 Prep --- (1962-1972)

	K A = B S CI T C = D L   --- (L scale increases to the right)

• 68 1892 --- 10" all plastic slide rule with plastic cursor. All scales are on the front side of the rule.
