Notes about this instruction manual:

• The full page illustration in the front shows a 4080-3 with the LL00 scale on top on the rear side of the rule even though it did change in 1939. The 1939 catalog does show the LL0 on top. The 1943 edition also has this same illustration.
• The 1943 edition of this manual is identical to the 1939 except for the illustration used on page 7 and the advertisements shown in the rear of the manual. The illustration on page 7 of the 1943 manual shows a simpler slide rule to illustrate the subject.
• In this presentation of the 1943 manual all text pages are from the 1939 manual except for page 7, the cover, preface pages, and the advertisement page.
